One of our students recently graduated, and I thought our readers, could benefit from learning about his journey. Specifically how he enrolled with us.
At NZES, we take pride in educating our community on any topic that can benefit them in the workplace, not just Estimating and Surveying. That’s why I wanted to bring your attention to an organisation that worked with our student, Tristan. A health and human services organisation called APM.
Our team recently had the opportunity to collaborate with APM, and we were impressed by the range of services they offer. A lot of these services might be able to help you.
Workplace injuries are a reality in the construction field, and it’s important to be aware of them. If you are currently working in the field or aiming to work in the field. You should be familiar with organisations like APM. Organisations that can help you in case of an injury.
If you’re reading this, entering the construction industry may be your goal. You may have a background in hands-on construction, looking to make a transition off the tools. Or the potential for higher income through Quantity Surveying might be your motivation. But for others, studying might be their only option available. Dictated by unfortunate circumstances such as a workplace injury or unemployment.
Tristan was unfortunate enough to sustain a workplace injury; this injury prevented him from returning to work. He wanted to make the most out of his time off and to improve himself professionally during his lengthy physical recovery. As a result, he decided to study with NZES.
Through working with APM, Tristan was able to secure full ACC coverage of his tuition fees. A service which will be highlighted later in this post.
Are you recovering from an injury? Is there a possibility you could be injured? Or, if you would like to know what your options are, I encourage you to read on and learn more about what APM has to offer.
Health and Wellbeing
These services include assessments, psychological interventions, employment assistance, and a range of community-based rehabilitation and injury prevention services. Their team of experts will create a personalised solution to help you recover from injury or illness. APM works with Allied health and ACC to formulate a personalised solution that best meets your needs whether it’s in relation to an injury, illness, or any other barriers that may be impacting your ability to work or live a fulfilling life.
Vocational rehabilitation/Return to work services
APM’s team of physiotherapists and occupational therapists can assist individuals in returning to work if they have experienced workplace injuries, or any ACC-covered injury resulting in time off work. They collaborate with the client, their employer, and ACC to create a plan for reintegration into the workforce. If returning to the previous role isn’t an option, they can also assist in finding new employment opportunities. A new role that matches the individual’s skills and abilities.
Physiotherapy
No referral is required to schedule an appointment with their physiotherapy team. They can assist with both ACC-covered injuries and non-ACC injuries. They can let you know if your injury is eligible for ACC coverage, allowing you to make an informed decision about your treatment.
In short, if you currently have a workplace injury. If you are recovering from an old injury, or you would just like some guidance on how to prevent one, I recommend you look into APM
